alrite. today was a good funny day.
northpoint in the afternoon with da laydees. and good talk. and teared sia. in the middle of the coffeeshop.. talkin abt some issues... that are certainly life lessons to be learnt.
death.
tsk.
anyway . on a lighter note.. went town AGAIN and got a yum top. like those ancient jokers with the huge sleeves. lols.
the legs hurt. really.
after two days of towning.
tsk.
and we went woodlands....where i became UBER lazy.
ANYWAY the highlight of this is that.. i went to the Kalari PAyat Silamabam Indian Martial Arts 20th Anniversary Dinner and Cultural Nite 2005 . at the Hometeam clubhouse.
it was Very interesting.
small kids.. and boys.. there was only ONE girl from the malaysia team and one senior female who was also a bharathanatyam dancer.
it looks mighty easy.. jus swingin ard poles.. breakin sugarcanes .. fightin with a shield and sword.. but u see in their eyes immense concentration and this desire to please their guru..
i learnt one martial art, aikido.. yes. from school that is.
and i realise... all these martial arts are very very much in similar.
One strikin element of similarity: respect for their gurus/sinsehs.
but anyways.. the students were demonstratin this art.. and there was this dude who was urm, jus goin wild... he was very violent. AND he was SHOUTIN and he was on his toes.. waiting for the moves.. abit of overdoin it.
there was this dude from india.. pondicherry.. who was executin his moves very sleekly.
anyway... its a pity really.. how many of u know of this association in singapore?
i , honestly dint.
i read the founder's message .
and when asked ,"Do you think Kalari Payat and Silambamm will become popular in Singapore?",
he replied, 'I would be saddened and disappointed if several hundered people joined the classes but gave it up within a short period. I would therefore rather have fewer but more serious students who are committed aand determined to train until they succeed. This will enable us to churn out better exponents rather than the occassional "trendy".'
how true.
and the turn out for the dinner.. pathetic... i mean for such an association which has been ard for 20 years.. u would expect a larger crowd..
but i guess.. nowadays everyone's idea of appreciatin the indian arts is jus goin for dance competitions held in CCs.
teenagers and the parents alike.
and of course.. we had the fair share of idiots who were laughin out loud durin the senior group demonstrations.
and urm .. there was a segment hiphop dance by two gals.. to the song outrageous.
and urm... yea.
nice overalls with shiny hair . oh u guyswere DANCIN Ah?
i would have preferred the younger kids's demonstration segment to be longer to the existence of da dance segment.
anyway.. we had a few good laughs. abt the lucky draw.
:)
i m tired.
pondicherry dude. with his girlfren. he has a ponytail by the way... i like.
us in the car. havin GOOD laughs. arent they adorable?
me & da christmas tree @ the reception.
i look disgustingly chubby.and she looks good of course. TSK.
we laughed so much to get this pic. and once we saw it.. we laughed out even more.
